The project
Story
"More Irish than the Irish themselves."
This is the conclusion after listening to the songs from THE REBEL POETS project by Andrea Rock, radio host and central figure in the Italian rock scene.
A journey that began in 2015 with the release of their first album, "Hibernophile," a declaration of love for the Emerald Isle, sealed with the single "Bury Me Irish" and the music video filmed in Dublin.
After several years of acoustic live performances, first as a solo artist, then as a duo until reaching a more complete lineup, "The Rebel Poets" was released in 2022; the album marked their breakthrough into electric music and positioned the band within the context of the international Celtic punk/rock movement.
What sets them apart from other bands in this genre is their lyrical content: Andrea tells the story of Ireland, modernizing the tradition of the rebel songs.
In 2023, "True Stories" album came out; a record that delves even deeper into the stories of historical Irish figures.
"Mnà," released on March 8, 2024, celebrates the women of Ireland and their contribution to the fight for community rights.
To mark the anniversary of the Easter Rising, the first single from the new album, "Smells Like Sixteen Spirit," has been released on April 24th.
